DESCRIPTION: Troubleshoot hardware and software on special machines according to customer specifications and within the agreed-upon proposals and contracts. Communicates with Customers, Engineers, Project Managers, and others during the course of project. Frequently coordinates and directs work of others while acting in a leadership role during machine debut and tryout phase through final customer acceptance. Participates in and at times conducts test meetings to ensure project requirements are met. Capable of developing, coordinating, and safely implementing test plans utilizing skills and input from other project team members. Responsible for proactively obtaining appropriate training or scheduling correct resources to address sophisticated technical components and systems on the project. Efficiently troubleshoot all components, wiring, and plumbing utilizing the assistance of assembly and electrical department employees. Proactively obtains training to allow for effective debugging of software (PLC logic, commercial programming software, etc.). Effectively communicate and coordinate efforts of other project team members during the machine tryout phase through customer acceptance. Write clear and comprehensive service reports.
REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required. Must possess basic knowledge and understanding of automation and electrical/computer theory. Must possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills, allowing effective problem-solving. Minimum of 5 years experience as an Automation Technician or Electrical Engineer. Good communication skills and ability to deal effectively with customers and project team members. Must possess planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Must possess a basic understanding of SPC. Must possess a strong understanding of PLC ladder logic, commercial programming software, and a basic understanding of other programming languages. Basic knowledge and application of all types of welding. Ability to train customer personnel in operation and setup of equipment. Good computer skills and an understanding of computer hardware. Ability to work in and promote a teamwork environment. Possess a positive attitude and willingness and ability to learn. Must be familiar with electrical tools. Must be able to read and understand blueprints. Must possess fundamental knowledge of electricity.
