Crimping, Clinching & Riveting
|
Crimping, clinching and riveting are alternative methods of attaching two pieces of metal, typically used when welding and adhesive bonding are not suitable for the assembly of the final product. Crimping:The attachment of one piece of steel to another by folding one edge with the other to create a non-welded seam. Clinching:The attachment of one piece of steel to another by punching or inserting one portion of metal through the other piece of metal. Riveting:A process in which two pieces of metal are joined by inserting a steel pin through lined-up holes in the two metals with the ends of the pin compressed to cause a tight joining of the pieces. |
