Forming, Clinching, Riveting and Assembly System

Product: Range Base Assembly

This machine is designed to be manually loaded and automatically unloaded. The sequence is as follows:

1. Two operators load four (4) plastic feet into drivers and two (2) base side panels. A third operator is loading a top panel.
2. The automatic cycle will screw the four (4) plastic feet into the base sides at the same time the top panel side flanges are being formed in a separate station.
3. The two (2) base side assemblies are then transferred into position and married with the top panel. The three (3) pieces are then riveted together.
4. This assembly is now transferred and turned 90 degrees to allow for some additional clinching to be placed to lock the two (2) side panels to the top panel.
5. The completed range base assembly is then automatically unloaded to the take away conveyor.

Advantages and Features

  • Through the use of this automation a very dimensionally accurate and strong range base assembly is made.
  • The automatic assembly of the plastic leg screws, flange bending of the top and riveting all four corners at the same time has made this a very productive automated system.
  • A completed base is produced every 12 seconds for a production rate of 300 Range Bases per hour.
