Automated Seam Welding System

Product: Clothes Washer or Dryer Tub Bottom to Skirt Welding
This machine is designed to be manually loaded and unloaded. The sequence is as follows:

1. Operator loads the cylindrical skirt first; then loads the bottom. The operator than closes a clamp unit that holds and positions the bottom to the skirt.
2. The weld cycle is started; weld wheels close onto the seam and weld the full diameter to form a leak free seam.

Advantages and Features

  • The weld wheel heads and rams are designed to equalize the weld pressure on the tub seam.
  • Flood cooling is used to ensure long weld wheel life.
  • The weld wheels are cleaned and shaped during the non-welding part of the cycle. This maintains a high quality and repeatable weld. Many tubs are made from a coated material and require this buildup of coating be removed from the wheels to insure good welds.
  • A welded tub is produced every 60 seconds for a production rate of 60 tubs per hour.
